Description: On April 21, 2006, a worldwide television audience of millions watched as Tara Conner’s “biggest dream ever???came true as she was crowned Miss USA 2006 at the conclusion of the 55th annual Miss USA telecast live from Baltimore, Maryland. The 20-year-old Russell Springs, Kentucky, native is the first woman from Kentucky to win the title of MISS USA®.
“This has been a dream of mine since I was 13 years old, and I’m still in shock that they placed the crown on my head,???Tara said.
A business administration major whose dream job is to be a television host, Tara says she’d love to be the next Kelly Ripa.
In her spare time, Tara, a self-described tomboy and extreme sports junkie, loves rappelling, skydiving, four-wheeling, and wakeboarding on Lake Cumberland near her home in Kentucky. She also enjoys playing basketball and golf.
In addition to all the amazing experiences she knows lay ahead for her during her reign as Miss USA, Tara is especially looking forward to working with the United Service Organization (USO). Her older brother Josh is stationed in Naples, Italy, with the Navy and Tara wants to do whatever she can to support service men and women all over the world.
As MISS USA®, Tara will also spend the next year championing the official causes of MISS USA®, which include breast and ovarian cancer education, research, and legislation. She will travel nationwide as an advocate for organizations such as the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund, the National Breast Cancer Coalition, Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, and Gilda’s Club, among others
